End of Best Motoring

Another sad news from Japan and automotive scene... As you can read at Noriyaro, Best Motoring is cancelled after 24 years. World lost one of the best automotive shows these days and probably the only show you could watch all day although you don't understand anything they are talking about.

JDM scene wouldn't reach the level as it is today if it wasn't for Best Motoring.

Drifting with AE86 Hachiroku

Photos of Hachirokus are the best, when Hachis are caught in action. True oldschool monsters, who are just made to drift! It’s the most popular JDM hot-hatch tuner cars in US, and it is for a reason. Through years it became an icon of JDM drifting cars.

WRC Impreza performance on snow

Snow and racing. Wild combination, no grip and no traction (I know, I broke my front front rim a week ago:)

I posted a comparison video some time ago between stock Subaru Impreza STI and Impreza STI WRC version. It was something for imagine the difference, but what do the experts say about WRC Impreza performance? Here’s an old video of WRC champion Tommi Makinen as a guest in Touge Showdown Special, driving around Keiichi Tsuchiya, Nobuteru Taniguchi and Manabu Orido. See what they have to say about it.
This time with subs! Thanks to GTchannel

Mine's R34 at Tsukuba Track

MINE'S is a auto tuning company in Yokosuka, Japan. They were one of the first Japan tuning companies that started selling re-maped ECU systems for Japan sport cars.
Their most famous products are tuned Nissans GT-R. Although the newest Nissan R35 GT was supposed to be untuneable because of locked ECU, Mine's started selling their tuned version of it with 100 more horsepowers only a week after R35 was available on market.
2002 MINE's R34 Skyline GT-R had 600ps, Best Motoring recorded a lap time of 57.7 seconds at Tsukuba with it. That's about 6 seconds faster than McLaren F1 on this track
Mine's stays away of the decorative styling part of modifying cars, they only focus on cars performance. Mine's founder Michizo Niikura answered on question in Best Motoring interview in 2002 why they left stock airboxes on R34 "We basically leave it up to each costumer how to modify some parts. If we try to do too many things, we will lose focus as a company" (I posted that video in another article) Simple and effective :)
This are videos of MINE'S R34 on Tsukuba track, drivers are Keiichi DK Tsuchiya and Tarzan Yamada, which drove best time of 57.7sec

Keiichi Tsuchiya the Drift King

Who is Keiichi Tsuchiya aka Drift King?

Born 30.1.1957, he is a professional racing driver known also as a Drift King because of his drifting skills and for making drift popular worldwide. He's also known for touge driving. He retired in 2004, he has a big career behind (Nascar, Le Mans, JGTC...) He is now a host of video magazine Best Motoring, where he tests new JDM cars, and a special magazine of tuned cars in a section called Hot Version.
Tsuchiya isn't like most of other racers which came from rich families with racing background and tradition, he gained his skills in underground street racing scene and made his way to the top.
He drives Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno, known as Hachi-Roku in Japan.
Here are video of young Keiichi Tsuchiya, driving his Hachi-Roku in one of the first ever filmed touge and for this video Keiichi Tsuchiya got his driving license suspended in Japan back then. Enjoy the touge movie
